Sea View Ballet Classes - Devon

ballet in devon outdoors with a sea view

Ballet on the terrace. The best way to enjoy ballet (and a view) in Devon - whilst staying safe & socially distanced.

Starting Saturday 25th July 2020, we are inviting clients to join us for Sea View Ballet in Devon.

Classes will be held on Rhea’s terrace at her house in Holcombe, South Devon. Enjoy a relaxing view of the sea whilst you plie, releve and stretch your way through an al-fresco 60 minute ballet fitness class.

Until we are able to safely enjoy studio classes again, this is the best way we can get together for class and keep safe and sensible.

A maximum of five people will be able to join each class. Bookings will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you find that no space is available, we will be running a waiting list for cancellations.

What happens if the weather isn’t good enough to run the class?

We will offer you the choice of a rescheduled date or a full refund.

We recommend that you check your emails the morning before class just in case class has to be rescheduled.

What shall I wear on my feet?

If you have an old pair of ballet shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, then these will be perfect.

Alternatively you could wear socks, or even socks over your ballet shoes to protect them.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a yoga mat or towel if you have one you don’t mind using outside.

If you prefer not to stretch on the floor outside, Rhea will give you alternative standing stretch options.

We also recommend bringing a warm layer like a sweatshirt or fleece in case it’s windy / chilly. Having said that, if it’s too cold, we won’t run the class.

What’s the terrace surface like?

The terrace has flat stone paving. There are some irregularities in the levels so you will need to be careful with any sliding or gliding moves such as tendus, glisses etc.

Are there any facilities?

Ideally, everyone will stay outside for the duration of their visit. This is to protect the other members of the household and you. If you do need to use the toilet, there is one on the ground floor of the house that you are welcome to use.

Will this class be socially distanced and safe for me to join?

These classes will be as safe as possible. Each attendee will be a minimum of 1 metre apart and your instructor will not come closer than 1 metre unless you indicate that you are happy for her to.

Hand sanitiser and cleaning wipes will be provided.

The terrace gate will be open upon your arrival.

You are welcome to wear a mask if you want to.

We will use the terrace concrete balustrade as a barre and step just away from the barre for centre work.
