Floor Barre - lengthen, strengthen and improve your alignment and posture

Floor barre can be completed anywhere (quite literally!) - an exercise regime adored by professional dancers, this class is completed on the floor and is inspired by a mix of Ballet, Pilates/Yoga and gentle strength training. Whilst focusing on the technique of Classical Ballet, Floor Barre also allows you to target specific muscles we use so regularly within our usual dance and fitness classes.

And the best part of all? Without even realising, when we lie on the floor, we are compelled to position ourselves correctly. This allows for the successful improvement of posture, technique and turnout!

This class is literally every dancer’s vitamin!

This class is perfect for you if:

You would like to enhance proprioception, maintain and improve control (without bearing weight down into the feet).

You would like to compliment your usual Ballet workout!

When?

Tuesday 6.30 pm and Thursday 12 pm (UK time)

EQUIPMENT

  1. A mat / rug / comfy flooring for all work within the class

 

YOU WILL NEED (FOR ONLINE CLASSES):

  1. A chair or something you can use as a barre (tabletop, counter top etc).

  2. Enough space to lift your leg in front, to the side and behind you. (Move those vases!)

  3. A yoga mat / towel / comfy flooring for mat work and stretching.

  4. A computer or phone you can link to the class through set up in a place you can see clearly.


The tech bit:

We use Zoom for our live classes. When you book your class, you will receive a booking confirmation with the Zoom live-stream link as well as class time and date.

We’ll also email you a reminder of the live-stream link 1 hr before class.
